Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings

I realize Thanksgiving has passed but there is sooooo much to be grateful for today and everyday. Recently, I got to take a walk around this beautiful lake close to where I live.  I was there taking time for myself which is very rare being the mother of a one year old. ( a proud and grateful mother). I was just walking, breathing and taking  in all the beauty.  I was thinking Wow… I am so in love with life! I am so grateful to be having this human experience.  Not because my life is perfect, not because I don’t have any problems because you can be sure I do… but because I am so lucky that life affords me the opportunity  experience all the many different facets in which it is.  All of the ups and downs, all of the   joys and sorrows, all of the love and letting go, all of its beauty, it’s mystery and its blessings. However, in the midst of traveling through the harder and painful times,  I am not always so thrilled in those particular moments and I must take extra effort to remind myself  that these occurrences usually behold some kind of  treasure. Sometimes it take conscious effort to strengthen our gratitude “muscle”.

“It’s not easy to be grateful all the time.  But it’s when you feel the least thankful that you are most in need of what gratitude can give you.” -Oprah Winfrey

The poem at the beginning of this post is actually a quote I had posted a couple of years ago. My yoga students and I thought it was powerful,  so I decided to share it again.  Plus I don’t think we can ever be too grateful! You can read more thoughts and exercises on gratitude here:  http://www.tarakorn.com/gratitude/ Thank you for reading.

What are you grateful for?                                                                                                              How has having an attitude of gratitude transformed your life for the better?

I am grateful for having a friend like you. I am grateful for the quiet moments in between the chatter of all of life. In this stillness, I awaken to the gifts that lay inside of me. I share these gifts with you, as I write, as I feel glad to be here, simply, to write and to tell you that YES! Life has it’s ups and downs, it’s good and “bad” moments. Not to dwell, but to pause, and to breathe, and to listen to whatever we need, “at that moment”. To declare that I am an “I’m” perfect being, and to conclude with this is another day, another present to unravel, to look into the hearts of others, by looking into our own hearts, to know that we are mirrored images of one and other, and to see the goodness inside each, imperfection the glory that lay within each of us. Thank you, Tara for another beautiful post. From one love unto another, may our rainbow continue to unfold…. LIFE!
